My milk just soured when I saw this from Townhall;

There’s something fishy in the Farm Bill, and taxpayers should beware. It’s a $170 million earmark for the salmon industry, quietly tucked into the mammoth bill at the last minute by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA). I don’t know much about the salmon industry. Perhaps Pelosi and Thompson can explain why it was necessary to earmark $170 million of the taxpayers’ money with no public scrutiny or debate. The earmark wasn’t in the House-passed Farm Bill or the Senate version; it was simply “air-dropped” into the final bill in secret.

When is the rest of America going to get it?  I say the rest because I know myself and those around me get it, but there is obviously a minion of assholes out there that just don’t get it.  Hell, our republican team is guilty of it as well, but these socialist MF’s are ripping us off every chance they get, only to immediately turn around and jump on the television screen and proclaim George Bush is to blame for everything from the Backstreet Boys breaking up to Paris Hilton’s misunderstood need to place a penis in her mouth on camera.  Fuck you Nancy and fuck you cuckolded Thompson.  Sorry for the naughty words.

John Bolton, in my opinion, is the only resource I need when it comes time to consider the United Nations and America’s troubling relationship with it.

“Norming” is the idea that the U.S. should base its decisions on some kind of international consensus, rather than making its decisions as a constitutional democracy. It is a way in which the Europeans and their left-wing friends here and elsewhere try and constrain U.S. sovereignty. You can see how disastrous this would be just by looking at the geography of the floor of the U.N. General Assembly. Look out at the representatives of the 192 governments spread out over the floor and you wonder where the U.S. even is. Well, we’re there somewhere. But the fact is that we’re sitting with a majority of countries that have no traditions or understanding of liberty. The argument of the advocates of “norming” is “one nation, one vote.” That sounds very democratic: Who could object to that? But its result would be very anti-democratic. As an illustration of this, a friend of mine once went to a conference on international law and heard a professor from a major European university say, “The problem with the United States is its devotion to its Constitution over international norms.”

To me, our continued subservience to the disease called the United Nations is akin to owning the ass kickinest Escalade in the neighborhood and your mom making you ride to school with the kid down the block in a rusted out Gremlin.  Painful.

One little-noticed problem that U.S. troops in Iraq face concerns DVDs. Discs bought overseas are often coded to make them incompatible with players sold in the United States. Decoders can get around that, but another hurdle is proving far trickier: the “porno-virus,” which is sometimes carried by bootlegg ed DVDs purchased in Iraqi markets, or souks. The viruses spread as data and discs are passed among soldiers.

I think this is a low jihadi blow to say the least.

Imagine that. One of the things Hurricane Katrina destroyed was the entire public schools system in New Orleans. From The Atlantic over a year ago;

The floodwaters, so the talk went, had washed this befouled slate clean—had offered, in a state official’s words, a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reinvent public education.” In due course, that opportunity was taken:…Stripped of most of its domain and financing, the Orleans Parish School Board fired all 7,500 of its teachers and support staff, effectively breaking the teachers’ union. And the Bush administration stepped in with millions of dollars for the expansion of charter schools—publicly financed but independently run schools that answer to their own boards. The result was the fastest makeover of an urban school system in American history.

Seems the new way of conducting the “undumbing of the tykes” business is making baby steps in the right direction. From the NYT’s (I can’t believe I’m citing them).
