SOOT, AL GORE & DEALING WITH IT ALL

And now, the High Priest of the Church of Global Warming, the Goracle Oracle, The Bee’s Knee’s, Allllllll Goooooorrrrrrrrrre!  Jetting around the globe, 05Goretelling you how to live your life, scaring your kids with images of drowning polar bears  and the only person to ever win an Oscar for a Power Point presentation!  Yeah that Al Gore.

Seem’s he’s realizing that no one gives a shit about his scam, so he has to invest some money in advertising.  You can’t indoctrinate with out an effective propaganda campaign can you?

He said the campaign, which Gore is helping to fund, was undertaken in large part because of his fear that U.S. lawmakers are unwilling to curb the human-generated emissions linked to climate change.

You mean buy your bullshit don’t you Al?

The new effort comes at a time when the three remaining major party presidential candidates — Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) — have all endorsed federal limits on greenhouse gases, virtually ensuring that the next occupant of the White House will offer a sharp break from President Bush’s climate policy.

All three have discussed global warming with Gore in phone calls over the course of the past few months. While McCain backs a more modest plan than that favored by the Democrats — he supports a 60 percent reduction in greenhouse gases from 1990 levels by 2050, compared with Obama and Clinton’s vow of an 80 percent cut during that period — the presumptive Republican nominee emphasized during a recent stop in Chula Vista, Calif., that he had pushed for a federal cap-and-trade system before either of his opponents came to the Senate.

This may have tilted my leanings towards not voting at all this year.  If McCain buys into the cap and trade scam then how in the world can I even respect his mental capacity to do his job…sigh.. but we have to vote for him don’t we?  The alternative is way too scary.

In an effort to penetrate Americans’ consciousness and change lawmakers’ political calculus, the group aims to enlist 10 million volunteers through a combination of network and cable commercials, display ads in magazines ranging from People to Real Simple, and online social networks. By contrast, the civil rights and antiwar movements in the 1960s each boasted about 5 million activists.

If this were such a big problem, wouldn’t it be obvious to people and not have to be sold to them like a 200lb Tijuana hooker with a blister on her lip?  At least there are voices of reason out there and I am currently looking at setting up something here to get donations to help counter this garbage.

The climate alliance’s initiative, however, will not go unchallenged by climate change skeptics. Americans for Balanced Energy Choices, a nonprofit funded by the coal industry and its allies, is spending about $35 million this election to bolster support for coal-generated electricity. The Competitive Enterprise Institute, a Washington-based think tank that receives part of its funding from oil and gas companies, recently spent close to $35,000 to run a television ad both in the District and in scattered cities throughout the country attacking Gore, and plans a follow-up campaign. The ad argues that Gore and his allies in Hollywood use plenty of energy but that “Al Gore wants to cut our energy use, putting our jobs and our future in jeopardy.”  More here

Hot Air had this to say….

Your barbeques and fireplaces are producing black soot.  Black soot bad.

Unlike carbon dioxide, which traps solar energy radiating back from Earth’s surface, black carbon particles absorb solar radiation as it enters Earth’s atmosphere, increasing its heat. In addition, when they precipitate onto snowy areas, they increase heat absorption that leads to glacial melting.

Yep, we’re all going to die.  How do we know?  Because V. Ramanathan, an atmospheric scientist with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego & Greg Carmichael, a chemical engineer at the University of Iowa say so, that’s why.

About 25% to 35% of black carbon in the atmosphere comes from South and East Asia.

In Europe and the U.S., diesel fuel, wood-burning fireplaces and barbecues are major sources of black carbon. Forest fires also are large sources of black carbon emissions.

These two dimwits, in cahoots with that bastion of “truthiness”, the IPCC also mentioned “brown clouds”, the conclusion that black carbon is to blame for the premature deaths of over one million people (of what and where we don’t know), and is melting some stupid glacier in the Himalayas.  I wonder if our tax money paid for these two numbnuts to execute this “study“?

On the other hand there’s a group of sensible numbnuts who, while still praying at the alter of man made warming, think it an exercise in stupidity to waste money trying to halt it and suggest we should concentrate more on dealing with it.

China’s growing emissions are on pace to double those of the United States in a decade, and the country shows little interest in slowing down. The United States has refused to cap its emissions, and much of Europe is failing to satisfy even the modest terms of the Kyoto Protocol, the 1997 landmark treaty on greenhouse gases.

“I would characterize us as realists,” Pielke said. “Realists on what is politically possible.”

TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS!  BURN DOWN A FOREST AND BEWARE THE BROWN CLOUDS!

energy independence is much more important than global warming. when the US is energy independent there will be no more oil wars and the terrorists will all be poor and unable to reach us. This will save lives AND energy. The global warming crowd can’t claim this. They can claim that they will damage and perhaps destroy capitalism which is their true aim. I for one am not done using capitalism. So I want to keep it. True believers in global warm are free to starve and freeze to death next winter. Think of all the energy you will save!

Hey PMan, Independence, I agree is a good goal, I always imagine we are only using so much foreign oil because we are using up everyone else’s before we tap our own…. but I know it couldn’t be that simple….

It is frustrating that China drills 90 or so miles off of our coast…..
