A new poll has found that most young Americans who went to the polls on November 4th, and presumably voted for Barack Obama, had no idea that the Democrats have run Congress the last two years. That’s a good thing for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, because her record is as bad as any new Speaker’s in history.

Ms. Pelosi likes to thunder against “the failures of eight years of the Bush economic policies.” The stock market has collapsed, she hisses, “because of a Republican philosophy of greed, deregulation, and tax cuts.” But almost the entire decline in the economy has come since she picked up the Speaker’s gavel. The stock market has decisively voted thumbs-down on the Pelosi paradigm, with the Dow falling from 12,157 in November 2006 to 8,600 today.

And it’s not just the stock market that has imploded. Let’s consider the gale of destruction since the Pelosi era began. The folks at Americans for Tax Reform helped me compile some of this unhappy economic data. The night of the Democratic landslide election of 2006, the net worth of the country was roughly $50 trillion. Now it’s at least $6 trillion lower. For the massive 100-million-strong American investor class Pelosi-economics is looking like a boarded-up home in foreclosure. Nor have workers fared much better. Democrats promised jobs and pay raises, but the unemployment rate has climbed steadily from 4.5% to 6.7%. The misery index (inflation plus the unemployment rate) has nearly doubled during Ms. Pelosi’s watch.

Now this isn’t news to us, we’ve known Pelosi was a dolt who waltzed into office by using the rabid Bush hatred that emanates from San Fransicko as her campaign mantra all along.  How can you go wrong when, like an un-greased 60’s era robot, you repeat over and over and over again, “it’s Bush’s fault, it’s Bush’s fault” to the already deranged and delusional?  She does it to this day!  Next time the turd is on the tele watch, she won’t be able to get the word’s “the last 8 years of the Bush administration” out of her mouth fast enough.

Wouldn’t it be great if when she loses re-election in 2010, she is simply stuffed into the Mars Rover and shipped off to Mars?  Or are the denizens of San Fran stupid enough to re-elect her?

Private security firm Blackwater Worldwide began holding meetings in London on Tuesday with potential clients for a new business venture — protection from pirates.

The Moyock, N.C., firm, which has grown rapidly through State Department security work in Iraq, has been courting shippers and insurance firms about protecting ships in pirate-infested waters. It’s meeting with more than a dozen firms this week and hopes to drum up its first contract.

There have been almost 100 attempts this year to seize ships off East Africa, fewer than half of which were successful, according to the U.S. Navy. On Nov. 30, two skiffs harassed an Oceania Cruises Inc. ship passing through the Gulf of Aden. Eight shots were fired at the cruise liner, which evaded the boats, according to the Miami-based company.

But some Latinos are grumbling it is not enough after all the support they gave him in the campaign, and gays and Asian-Americans are pushing for some representation in remaining Cabinet announcements. But overall Obama is allaying some early concerns that a black president wouldn’t need to put so much importance on diversity of those working under him.

“He really seems to be reaching out to people that he doesn’t need to reach out to politically,” said Harris, who worked for Sen. John McCain’s 2000 presidential campaign. “He is not filling his administration with a bunch of Illinois cronies and he really is getting people with a diverse set of views. As an American, that’s a breath of fresh air.”

DETROIT (AP) - Worried about their jobs and warned that the cost of failure could be a depression, hundreds of leaders of the United Auto Workers voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to make concessions to the struggling Detroit Three, including all but ending a much-derided program that let laid-off workers collect up to 95 percent of their salaries.

“Everybody has to give a little bit,” said Rich Bennett, an official for Local 122 in Twinsburg, Ohio, representing Chrysler workers. “We’ve made concessions. We really feel we’re doing our part.”

Union leaders also agreed to let the cash-starved automakers delay billions of dollars in payments to a union-administered trust set to take over health care for blue-collar retirees starting in 2010.

Dear Civilians, ‘We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military.  For those of you who can’t join, you can still lend a hand.  Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest - kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans.  If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second.  Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great.  Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass.

4. (GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were.  Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues, telling others that you used to be ‘Special Forces,’ and collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old.  Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask them, ‘Do you fly a jet?’  Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot.  Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children are exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the Coast Guard ‘non-military’, inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart.  Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do
either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking.

8. Don’t try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran.  We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our party affiliation.  Our Chain of Command is to include our Commander-In-Chief (C in C).  The President (for those who didn’t know) is our C in C regardless of political party.  We have no inside track on what happens inside those
big important buildings where all those representatives meet.  All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out.  If you keep asking us the same stupid questions repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked!

9. ‘Your mama wears combat boots’ never made sense to me - stop saying it!  If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore could kick your ass!

10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying ‘Let’s go kill those Commies!’  And stop asking us where he is!  Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military.  That reminds me- if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I can go kick their ass!

11. ‘Flyboy’ (Air Force), ‘Jarhead’ (Marines), ‘Grunt’ (Army), ‘Squid’ (Navy), ‘Puddle Jumpers’ (Coast Guard), etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them.  Using them could get your ass kicked.

12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families.  Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military
and the sacrifices they make every day.  Without them, our country would get it’s ass kicked.’  ‘It’s the Veteran, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.’  ‘It’s the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.’  ‘It’s the Veteran, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.’  ‘It’s the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.’

13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the national anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS.
